Invisible orthodontics in Barcelona

Invisible orthodontics moves the teeth with clear trays that come out to eat and to brush, and they have to be worn 22 hours a day. Before starting, a 3D study shows you the path your teeth are expected to follow and how many trays it takes. Who decides which tooth moves, and in what order, is the orthodontist, not the aligner brand.

Transform your smile without anyone noticing

Invisible orthodontics in Barcelona

At Clínica Dental Barcelona we plan and follow every invisible orthodontic treatment in the practice, with the orthodontist in front of you and not remotely. The 3D study at the first visit shows you which movements your case needs and how many trays it takes, and that visit is free. What a study cannot promise is the result: that also depends on the hours you wear them.

Reinvent your smile with invisible orthodontics in Barcelona

An orthodontic treatment is not made by the aligner, it is made by whoever plans it. The brand decides the material and the software; the orthodontist decides which tooth moves, in what order and how much, and that is what separates a treatment that finishes well from one that stops halfway and has to be redone.

Here we work with Spark, by Ormco, and the treatment is planned and reviewed in the practice, not remotely. If aligners are not the best option in your case, we will say so at the study stage and propose what is.

Difference between Spark and Invisalign

SPARK can only be used by orthodontic specialists while invisalign can be used by any dentist. The main difference between the two treatments is the material and software used in the two treatments. Invisalign aligners are made of SmartTrack while Spark aligners are made of TruGEN, a material that differs in transparency and in how much force it holds.

Spark software allows the integration of dental roots into the planning, placing multiple attachments on a tooth, and positioning attachments on the lingual side. It also incorporates posterior bite ramps, improving the esthetic result. As for the price of invisible orthodontics have a similar cost of 1600 to 4000 € for any of the 2 treatments although our Spark treatment is slightly lower.

Why choose Spark invisible braces

Spark aligners are trimmed along the gum line instead of ending in a straight line. That shows in two concrete things: they are less visible, because they do not draw a band across the tooth, and they rub the gum less.

They treat the usual aligner cases: crowding, diastemas, open bite, crossbite, overjet and overbite. Which of those are treatable in YOUR mouth, and with how many trays, comes out of the 3D study, which at the first assessment visit is free.

Material and manufacture

Spark Aligners is a transparent orthodontic system manufactured by Ormco, a company with more than sixty years of experience in the market. The part that matters most to the patient is that the treatment is planned and followed in the practice, with the orthodontist in front of you, and not remotely.

In orthodontics that matters: a movement that is not going as planned gets corrected when someone looks at it in your mouth, not when a photo you sent picks it up. The material is called TruGEN.

It is made in layers and is clearer and less porous than earlier generations of plastic, which is what makes it hold up better without yellowing with coffee. That said, the material is not what decides the result: the planning does.

Duration

What really decides how long your treatment takes is not the brand of the aligner: it is the hours you wear it. The plan is calculated on 20 to 22 hours a day, and below that the teeth do not reach where the next tray expects to find them, the tray stops fitting, and the treatment gets longer or the plan has to be redone.

It is the least sellable part of this treatment and the most honest: being able to take them out is its greatest advantage and its greatest risk.

Software technology

Both Spark Aligners and Invisalign use advanced technologies to design their treatment plans. However, the software used by Spark, called Approver 3D, has some additional features that can enhance treatment planning and design.

This program, for example, performs a simulation of the roots of the teeth, which makes it possible to predict how the roots will react to certain dental movements, and allows several attachments to be configured on a tooth or on the lingual (inner) side, which is not yet possible with Invisalign.

Price of invisible orthodontics

All three plans cover both arches and include the 3D study with X-rays. The price is fixed, and simple cases, which need fewer trays, get an additional discount. What the price includes and what retention costs at the end are on the page about Invisalign cost in Barcelona.

What is invisible orthodontics

Invisible orthodontics is a type of orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear aligners that fit over the teeth to correct dental alignment. Aligners are made specifically for each patient based on a model of their teeth and are used for a specific period of time to move the teeth into their correct position.

Invisible orthodontics is so called because the aligners are very discreet and virtually invisible when worn, which is why they are called invisible braces. This can be a great advantage for those patients who wish to correct their dental alignment problems without having to worry about the look of brackets and wires seen in traditional orthodontics.

In addition to its discretion, invisible orthodontics can also be more comfortable than other types of orthodontic treatment, as the soft, flexible aligners do not cause irritation or pain to the gums or cheeks.

What are the advantages of invisible orthodontics?

It is not right for everything, and that is known at the study stage, not halfway through the treatment. Aligners are excellent for mild or moderate crowding, diastemas, relapse after previous orthodontics and corrections to the shape of the arch.

They struggle with badly altered bites, teeth that need a lot of rotation (canines and premolars above all), extrusions, and cases that call for extractions or surgery: there, braces still control the movement better. If your case is one of the second kind we will tell you, even if that means proposing braces instead of what you came looking for.

Discreet: at conversation distance it is barely noticeable. Close up the attachments are visible, and they are necessary for it to work. Hygienic: you brush and floss as always, because the tray comes out. With braces, plaque builds up around the bracket and that leaves white marks on the enamel that do not go away afterwards.

No forbidden foods: it is removed to eat. With braces you cannot bite crusty bread, nuts or a whole apple for the whole treatment. Planned in 3D before starting: you see a projection of how the teeth will end up and how many trays are needed.

It is a projection, not a guarantee: the result also depends on your hours of wear and on how your bone responds. Fewer visits: several trays are handed over per appointment and the checks are further apart than the monthly adjustment of braces.

What problems are corrected with invisible orthodontics?

Invisible orthodontics is effective in correcting a wide variety of dental alignment problems, including: Open or cross bite: the upper teeth do not meet correctly with the lower teeth. Spacing between teeth: the teeth are too far apart.

Overlapping teeth: one tooth is covering another tooth, which can affect the bite and appearance. Crooked or tilted teeth: Teeth are crooked or tilted, which can make oral hygiene difficult and affect appearance. Overjet or overbite problems: when the upper teeth protrude too far or the lower teeth are too far in.

In general, invisible orthodontics can help improve the appearance of teeth and bite, while increasing oral hygiene and overall dental health. However, it is important to note that the effectiveness of invisible orthodontics varies from patient to patient, depending on the severity of their dental alignment problems and other individual factors.

Frequently asked questions

How much does invisible orthodontic treatment cost in Barcelona?

In Spain the usual range for orthodontics is 1,000 to 4,000 €, and that spread is not commercial: it depends on how many aligners your case needs, which is what really sets the price.

That is why here the quote comes after the 3D study and is closed: number of aligners, duration and price, with no extras appearing halfway through. The study and the first assessment visit are free, so you can know what your case costs before committing to anything.

Is invisible orthodontic treatment painful?

Unlike traditional braces, invisible orthodontics usually generate less discomfort. However, it is normal to feel some pressure when changing aligners.

How long does invisible orthodontic treatment last?

Between 12 and 18 months in most cases. Mild crowding, or a relapse from earlier orthodontics, can be solved in 6 months; a complex case can run beyond two years.

Each aligner is worn for one to two weeks, so the number of months follows from how many your case needs, which is why the aligner count and the duration go together in the quote. Both come from the 3D study before you start, so the duration is not a guess. What does make it longer is wearing them fewer hours than prescribed.

Can I eat with aligners in?

It is recommended to remove the aligners when eating or drinking anything other than water to avoid staining or damaging them.

Can I smoke with aligners in?

Smoking with the aligners in place is not recommended, as this may stain the aligners or damage the material.

How are invisible aligners cleaned?

It is essential to clean the aligners with warm water and a soft brush. The use of toothpaste is not recommended as it may dull them.

When do you start to see the results of invisible orthodontics?

On the front teeth, within a few weeks, and that is usually what keeps people going. The reason is that incisors have a single root and move sooner; canines and molars, with larger roots, take longer. Seeing movement early does not mean being finished: the last stretch of treatment is the fine adjustment of the bite, which is barely visible in the mirror and is what makes the result hold.

Do the results of invisible orthodontics last forever?

Not on their own, and it is worth knowing before you start: teeth tend to drift back. That is what is called relapse, and it has nothing to do with whether the treatment was done well.

What prevents it is the retainer, fixed behind the teeth or removable at night, and it has to be worn indefinitely. It is not an extra at the end of treatment: it is the part that preserves what you paid for, and stopping is the number one reason someone ends up having orthodontics twice.

What material is used for invisible aligners?

Invisible orthodontic aligners are made of a type of clear, BPA-free medical plastic that is both durable and comfortable for the patient.

What happens if I do not wear the aligners for the recommended time?

For treatment to be effective, it is essential to wear the aligners at least 22 hours a day. Failure to do so may delay the process.

What maintenance is required after treatment?

After finishing the treatment, it is usual to require the use of night retainers to keep the teeth in their new position.
