A gingivectomy costs €30 per tooth or €250 per arch on our price list, with the price closed before anything starts. Which of the two applies to you depends on how many teeth need treating, and that is decided at the first visit, which is free.
If you want to understand what the procedure involves, it is explained on the page about gingivectomy in Barcelona. This page covers the practical side: what each price pays for, what changes the bill, what is charged separately and how many times you will need to come in.

What a gingivectomy costs at the clinic
On our price list, gingivectomy has two lines. The first, €30 per tooth, is for when the gum covers too much of one particular tooth and its height has to be evened out with its neighbors. The second, €250 per arch, is the same trimming on all the upper or all the lower teeth, for when too much gum shows when you smile.
These are published, closed prices: what you see on the list is what you pay for the procedure. Above eight teeth in the same arch, the per-arch price costs less than adding them up one by one; with two or three teeth, paying per tooth makes more sense.
What the gingivectomy price includes
The price covers the whole procedure. It includes:
- Local anesthesia in the area, so it is numb while we work.
- Marking the height where the edge of the gum should sit on each tooth.
- Trimming the excess tissue and shaping the edge so it is thin and even.
- The surgical dressing that protects the wound, in the cases that need one.
- Written instructions for the following days: brushing, food and rinses.
The assessment beforehand is not added to the bill either. It is part of the first visit, which is free and includes an X-ray, a scan and a written plan.
What the price depends on
The two prices do not change; what varies from one patient to another is the final bill, for three reasons:
- How many teeth need treating. That is what decides whether you pay per tooth or per arch. Sometimes the excess is on just one or two teeth; other times the whole upper smile has to be evened out.
- Whether removing gum is enough. Probing and the X-ray show whether the excess is only gum or whether the bone sits too close to the edge. In that second case, the procedure is not a gingivectomy but a crown lengthening.
- The state of your gum today. With untreated periodontitis, the infection is treated first and the trimming comes after. That earlier treatment has its own line on the price list.
What is not included and what it costs
Anything that is not the gingivectomy itself is charged at its list price, and we tell you at the same visit, before anything starts. The usual items are:
- Oral cleaning: €30, if it is better to come to the procedure with the gum free of tartar.
- Scaling and root planing: €60, if periodontitis has formed pockets and the root needs cleaning below the gum before the trimming.
- Veneers or crowns, if you want to complete your smile afterward: a composite veneer costs €70 per tooth, a lithium disilicate veneer €320 per tooth and a zirconia or porcelain crown €270.
Crown lengthening has no line on the price list. If your case needs it, we give you its closed quote at the first visit, which is free, together with the rest of the plan.
How many visits it takes and how long
Two visits is the usual. At the first one we assess the gum, measure it and decide how many teeth need treating, at no cost. At the second, the gingivectomy is done, and in that same appointment one tooth or a whole arch can be treated: there is no need to split it over several days.
The change in shape shows as soon as it is finished. What takes time is healing: the wound takes about a month to close on the outside and around seven weeks to mature underneath. If your plan continues with veneers or crowns, impressions are taken once the edge is stable, so allow for that time if you have a date in mind.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a gingivectomy cost in Barcelona?
At the clinic, €30 per tooth and €250 per full arch, with the price closed and published on the price list. At the first visit, which is free, we decide how many teeth need treating, so you have the exact bill before anything starts.
When is it worth paying per arch instead of per tooth?
When more than eight teeth in the same arch need treating: from the ninth tooth on, adding up teeth at €30 costs more than the €250 for the arch. If only a few teeth are involved, you pay just for the ones treated.
Are the anesthesia and the dressing charged separately?
No. Both are included in the gingivectomy price, as are the written instructions for caring for the wound at home. Only what is not part of the procedure is charged separately, such as a cleaning beforehand at €30.
What if I need crown lengthening instead of a gingivectomy?
That treatment has no price on the list, because besides gum it may remove a little bone. If probing and the X-ray show that is what you need, we give you a closed quote at the first visit, which is free.
How many appointments does a whole arch take?
One for the procedure: the full arch can be treated in the same appointment. Before that comes the first visit, free of charge, where we assess the gum and set the quote.
