At the clinic, a night guard for bruxism costs €260. It is made from an impression or a scan of your mouth and you wear it at night, so your teeth bite against it instead of against each other. The first visit, where we examine your bite and measure the wear, is free, and you get the quote closed and in writing.
This page is only about money: what you pay for the guard, what could be added if bruxism has already damaged a tooth, and which part of the treatment costs nothing. What bruxism is, how it shows and which options there are is explained on the page about bruxism treatment in Barcelona.

What the €260 price includes
A night guard, also called an occlusal splint, is a resin piece that fits over your teeth and takes the friction that today is wearing down the enamel. Getting it into your mouth takes several steps:
- The initial exam. It is part of the first visit, which is free: we look at how you bite, how worn the edges are and how the jaw joint responds.
- The impression or the scan. The guard is made on the copy of your mouth, not in a standard size.
- The finished guard and its fitting. We try it in your mouth, check how your bite rests on it and show you how to put it in and store it.
Being custom-made is what sets it apart from a drugstore guard, the kind you soften in hot water and shape at home: those only partly adapt to your teeth. Ours fits each tooth and can be checked and adjusted at the clinic.
What could be added to the quote
When bruxism has gone on for years, the checkup sometimes finds more than wear. A chipped tooth or one with a broken edge gets repaired, and it is better to do it once the guard is in use, so the repair does not wear down at the same pace as the enamel. The usual cases, with their list price:
- Reconstruction of a chipped or worn tooth: €50. We explain it on the page about dental reconstruction in Barcelona.
- A filling, if a cavity also shows up: €40.
- A zirconia or porcelain crown, when the tooth has lost so much that a reconstruction cannot hold it: €270 per tooth.
Whatever is needed goes in the same written quote, with each amount listed separately, and you have it before anything starts. If the exam finds nothing to repair, the price of the treatment is the price of the guard and nothing else.
How many visits it takes and how long
The order is the same for every patient; we give you the exact dates in writing at the first visit:
- Free assessment, with the bite exam, the measurement of the wear and a check of the jaw joint.
- Impressions, taken with a mold or a scanner, to make the guard.
- Fitting, with the try-in and the instructions for wearing and cleaning it.
- Checkups, where we see how it is wearing and adjust it to your bite.
If a tooth needs repairing, those visits fit into the same schedule. You wear the guard every night from the day it is fitted, and your enamel is protected from that first night.
How long the guard lasts and when to replace it
The guard is made to wear down instead of the tooth. Every night of clenching takes a little resin off it, and at the checkups we measure how much. While it still protects, it gets adjusted; if it has thinned out or broken, a new one is made, which today costs the same as the first.
How long it lasts depends on how hard you clench, so we do not promise a set time. Making it last longer is up to you: cold water and mild soap to clean it, never hot water, which warps it, and its case whenever you are not wearing it.
The part of the treatment you do not pay for
The guard takes care of the night. Daytime bruxism, clenching your jaw while awake, usually without a sound, is handled differently: by learning to notice when you clench and to let go. That has no price on the list because you do it yourself, and at the clinic we tell you which signs to watch for.
At the first visit we also ask about your sleep, stress or any new medication. What triggers the clenching cannot be fixed with resin, and knowing it helps bruxism ease off instead of just being kept in check.

Frequently asked questions
How much does bruxism treatment cost in Barcelona?
At our clinic, a custom-made night guard costs €260. If a tooth needs repairing, its amount is added to the same written quote; a reconstruction, for example, costs €50.
Is a bruxism splint the same as a mouth guard or a night guard?
They are different names for the same thing: a resin piece you wear while you sleep so your teeth do not grind against each other. At the clinic we make it from the impression or the scan of your mouth, and it costs €260.
How long does a night guard last?
It depends on how hard you clench: the resin wears down instead of the tooth, and that wear varies a lot from one person to another. At the checkups we see how it is doing and adjust it; when it no longer protects, a new one is made at the list price.
How much does Botox for bruxism cost?
Botulinum toxin is not on our price list, so we do not give it a price here. What does have a closed price is the night guard, €260, which is what stops the wear on the tooth. At the first visit, which is free, we see whether your case is wear, muscle pain or both.
Do I save money with a drugstore night guard?
A drugstore guard is shaped at home with hot water and only partly adapts to your teeth, so it does not fit or protect the way one made on your own impression does. If you are not sure you need one, the assessment is free and you will know before paying anything.
