Teeth whitening cost in Barcelona: €250 with a cleaning

Gloved dentist holding a shade guide tab up to the teeth of a smiling patient

At the clinic, teeth whitening costs €250, and that price already includes the ultrasonic cleaning beforehand, trays made to fit your mouth and five syringes of gel: three for the two weeks of treatment and two in reserve for the following year. The first visit, where we record your starting shade, is free.

This page is only about money: what you pay, what the €250 covers and what could be added if the checkup finds something. How the gel works, which types there are and who it suits are covered on the page about tooth whitening in Barcelona.

What the €250 price includes

It’s a fixed price, and that’s how it appears on the clinic’s price list. It covers three things:

  • An ultrasonic oral cleaning. It comes first, so the gel works on a clean tooth and not on tartar. On its own it costs €30; here it isn’t charged separately.
  • Custom-made trays. They’re made from the measurements of your mouth, and a good fit is what keeps the gel from leaking onto the gums.
  • Five syringes of gel. Three are used over the fourteen nights of treatment; the other two go in the fridge for touching up the shade.

Before all that comes the first visit, which is free. At that visit we check your starting color with the shade guide, look for cavities and inflamed gums, and see whether there are fillings, crowns or veneers on the teeth that show when you smile.

What can be added to the quote

The gel isn’t applied over an open cavity or inflamed gums, because it would reach sensitive areas and hurt. If the checkup finds something like that, it’s treated before whitening, and its cost goes into the same written quote from day one. The two usual cases, at their list price:

  • A filling for a cavity: €40.
  • Scaling and root planing, when periodontitis has formed pockets in the gums: €60.

One other possible cost is up to you: fillings, crowns and veneers don’t change color with the gel, so if you have one at the front it will look darker than the rest. People who want it to match replace it afterward, once the new shade has settled. On the price list, a zirconia or porcelain crown costs €270 per tooth, and a composite veneer €70 per tooth.

How many visits it takes and how long it lasts

The order is always the same; we give you the exact schedule in writing at the first visit:

  1. Free assessment, with your starting shade and a checkup of your mouth.
  2. Ultrasonic cleaning and impressions to make the trays.
  3. Tray fitting, with the five syringes and instructions for use.
  4. Fourteen nights at home, wearing the tray with the gel while you sleep. After two weeks the treatment is done.

If at the assessment we also suggest a session at the clinic, plan on an appointment of 60 to 90 minutes. Part of that time goes into isolating the gums before the gel goes on, and the change in color is already visible when you leave. Whatever we suggest, with its price, you get in writing before you start.

Keeping the color without paying for another treatment

The result isn’t permanent: teeth stain again from the same things that stained them, and the shade loses part of what it gained over the months. That’s what the two reserve syringes included in the price are for. Using them for a few nights when you notice the color fading saves you from repeating the whole treatment, and they’re good for up to a year.

What makes the result last longer is down to your habits: cutting back on coffee, tea, red wine, cola and tobacco during the treatment and in the months after it.

Who can’t have it, even if they pay

We don’t whiten the teeth of anyone under 18, and that isn’t our decision. Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, Annex III, entry 12, restricts whiteners with more than 0.1% and up to 6% hydrogen peroxide, present or released, to dentists, bans their use in people under 18 and requires a dentist to carry out or supervise the first application of each cycle.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding it’s postponed, and with marked sensitivity the plan changes: the concentration is lowered and the nights are spaced out. If whitening isn’t right for your case, we tell you at the first visit and you pay nothing to find out.

How to get your quote

The first visit is free and you leave it with the plan and the price in writing. You can book an appointment online with your name, email and mobile number, call +34 639 65 33 51 or, if you’d like to ask something first, write to us through the online dental consultation. The clinic’s other prices are on the clinic’s price list.

Frequently asked questions

How much does teeth whitening cost in Barcelona?

At our clinic, €250. That price covers the cleaning beforehand, the custom trays and the five syringes of gel, two of them in reserve. If the checkup finds a cavity or gums that need treating first, that cost is added to the same written quote.

Is there cheap teeth whitening in Barcelona?

Our price is €250, fixed and with the cleaning included, so it doesn’t turn up later as an extra. The assessment isn’t charged either, and the reserve syringes save you from paying for another treatment when the shade fades.

How long does teeth whitening take?

The at-home treatment takes two weeks, with the tray every night; a session at the clinic, 60 to 90 minutes. The result isn’t forever: the shade fades little by little and comes back with the reserve syringes, which are good for up to a year.

Can someone under 18 have their teeth whitened?

No. Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 bans it for whiteners with more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide, present or released. From age 18, the first visit is where we see whether whitening is right for your case.

Is the cleaning before whitening charged separately?

No. The ultrasonic cleaning is part of the €250 and is done before the gel, because over tartar or surface stains the whitening doesn’t reach all of the enamel evenly. If you only want the cleaning, it costs €30.
