Ceramic braces cost in Barcelona: a fixed quote and a free study

Smile with clear ceramic braces on the upper teeth and the thin metal wire that joins them

Ceramic braces don’t have a fixed figure on our price list: the price is set at the first visit, which is free, once we’ve studied your mouth, and we give it to you in writing before you start. That quote includes the retainers at the end and, if you prefer sapphire, the clear version of ceramic, we give you its figure too.

This page is only about what you pay. What these braces are like, how noticeable they are and what care they need is explained on the page about ceramic braces in Barcelona.

How much ceramic braces cost at the clinic

We don’t publish a catalog figure, because two mouths with ceramic braces can need very different treatments. What we can tell you before we see you is where they fall: they cost more than metal braces and, as a rule, less than lingual braces, which are custom-made and go behind the teeth.

The price for your case comes from the initial study, with X-rays, photos and a scan. With that information we know how much has to move, how long it will take and whether your bite allows ceramic on both arches. That’s how we set the figure, and you have it in writing before anything is bonded.

What goes into the quote

The written quote shows each part of the treatment:

  • The initial study, which is part of the first visit and isn’t charged.
  • The brackets and wires, ceramic or sapphire.
  • Fitting, in one appointment and without anesthesia, because the inside of the tooth isn’t touched.
  • Checkups, where the wire is adjusted and the elastic ties that hold it are changed.
  • Removal and retainers, which hold the teeth where they are once they’ve moved into place.

On the price list, retainers have their own line: €70 for the fixed one, a wire bonded on the inside, and €60 for the removable one for both arches. With ceramic braces they’re already included in the quote, so they aren’t added to the bill.

What the figure depends on

Within ceramic braces, these are the reasons two quotes don’t match:

  • Your case. Mild crowding is corrected sooner than a bite that doesn’t fit together or a badly rotated tooth, and more months mean more checkups.
  • Ceramic on one arch or both. If your lower teeth hit the upper brackets when you close your mouth, ceramic wears down their enamel more than steel does. In those cases ceramic goes on the upper teeth, where it shows, and metal on the lower ones, and the quote reflects that.
  • Ceramic or sapphire. Both move teeth the same way; what changes is the look. Polycrystalline ceramic mimics the color of the tooth, and sapphire lets the enamel show through.
  • A more fragile material. Ceramic doesn’t bend like steel: a knock breaks it, and each broken bracket is a visit to replace it. That, together with the material itself, is what makes it cost more than metal.

What’s paid separately

Before any bracket is bonded, the mouth has to be healthy. If the study turns something up, it’s treated first and charged at its list price, which we tell you at the same visit:

  • Oral cleaning, €30, if there’s tartar or the gums are inflamed.
  • Filling, €40, for each cavity the study finds.

How many appointments it takes and how long it lasts

  1. Free first visit, with the study, the plan and the quote in writing.
  2. Gums and cavities, only if something needs treating first.
  3. Fitting, in a single appointment: a bracket on each tooth and the first wire.
  4. Regular checkups to adjust the wire and change the elastic ties.
  5. Removal and retention. Taking off ceramic takes more care than taking off steel, so the enamel isn’t damaged, and then the retainers go in.

How many months you’ll wear braces depends on what has to move, and that timeline is written in your plan next to the price. A broken bracket stops moving its tooth until it’s replaced, so let us know as soon as you notice.

If what you want is for nothing to show

Up close, ceramic is noticeable, especially the wire, which is still metal. If you don’t want anything to show, the options are lingual braces, which go behind the teeth, or aligners. Invisible orthodontics is on the price list from €1,490, and at the assessment we give you both figures so you can compare.

How to get your quote

The first step is the study visit, which isn’t charged and doesn’t commit you to anything. You leave knowing whether your bite allows ceramic, how long treatment will last and how much it costs.

You can book an appointment online with your name, email and mobile number, and we’ll call you, or dial +34 639 65 33 51; we’re also open on Saturday mornings. If you’d like to clear up a question first, write to us through the online dental consultation. The fixed prices for other treatments are on the clinic’s price list.

Frequently asked questions

How much do ceramic braces cost in Barcelona?

At the clinic they don’t have a fixed list price: we give you a fixed quote at the first visit, which is free, with the retainers included. As a guide, they cost more than metal braces and, as a rule, less than lingual ones.

Why do aesthetic braces cost more than metal ones?

Aesthetic braces is the name for ceramic and sapphire brackets. They cost more because of the material, which mimics the tooth or is clear, and because it’s fragile: each breakage is a visit to replace the bracket. Removing them at the end also takes more care to protect the enamel.

What changes in the quote if I choose sapphire?

Sapphire is a single-crystal ceramic, which is why it’s clear; it moves teeth the same way and needs the same care. If you’re unsure, at the assessment we give you the figure in writing for the option you prefer.

Are the retainers paid separately?

With ceramic braces, no: they’re included in the quote, even though they have their own line on the price list (€70 for the fixed one and €60 for the removable one).

How long does treatment with ceramic braces take?

It depends on how much has to be corrected, not on the color of the bracket: ceramic moves teeth the same way metal does. What does lengthen it is brackets breaking, so avoid biting into hard foods.
